Personal and Health Requirements for Surrogates

Have the support of her family. If married or partnered, the surrogate must have her partner's support.

What Disqualifes You From Being a Surrogate?

When a woman doesn't meet surrogate requirements, it means she does not meet the specihc criteria put forth by fertility clinics to have the best chance at 3 successful surrogate pregnancy for all parties involved.

Reasons why a surrogate applicant may be disqualifed:

Not being in the correct age range
Not having previously given birth
Having a BMl above the accepted range
Not living in a surrogacy-friendly state
Not meeting health requirements, such as being a smoker
Not meeting the financial requirements
Not having the support of her family and/or spouse
Her current lifestyle or well-being does not allow for the emotional and mental commitment of surrogacy

If you do not qualify for surrogacy, that is not a reflection on you as a person. It simply means that a surrogate a pregnancy is not the right fit for your health or lifestyle at this time.
For example, a BMl above 33 does not mean you are not healthy. It simply means you are not in the optimal range for the IVF medications and guidelines for being a surrogate. These mandates ensure you will properly
